Web copy or just copy?

Web copy helps website visitors in understanding messages. We all know that.  It is a fact that it is harder to read on a screen because of the light. We also know that people tend to have less time to read online than when reading a book or a printed newspaper.

Why not use web copy for all written content?

But as most of us often only read the things we are really interested in, why not make use of the web copy tricks for all other types of written information?

  • Descriptive headings
  • Summarized introduction texts
  • Shorter paragraphs with descriptive subheadings
  • Bullet lists
  • Plain English (or whatever language you are writing in)
  • Etc.

Wouldn’t that be good also for printed material? If you want people to listen to you, regardless of the medium, make sure it is easy enough for them to get the message!
